What Makes a Man a Real Man?
What Makes a Man a Man? The world today has many definitions as to what a real man is. In some parts of society a man is one who is respected and who will go to whatever length, including violence to prove his manhood. Other people in society measure manhood by how much alcohol he can drink, how many sexual encounters he has had and how much money he makes. What do these things really mean? Are these things real measures of true manhood? What makes man a man then? I have asked myself that over the years and have looked at those men in my life who have influenced me for good. There have always been the same qualities in all of these men. One, they have helped me to believe in myself and that I could make a difference. All of them have been very generous with their time and been eager to help others. All of them have had an abiding love for their children and more importantly for the mother of their children. A real man makes the world a better place. A real man puts their wife on a pedestal allows her to be free to fulfil her true potential. A real man understands that the little things he does for those around him will be felt long after he is gone. A real man understands that sometimes it is better to be happy than be right. So how can one be a real man and still be masculine? Can a real man be caring and adore his wife and still love football or some other uber masculine pursuit such as mixed martial arts? You bet. Can a man be a man who is willing to invest time with his children still be successful at work? Of course he can. The key is balance and learning to manage all aspects of your life. If one spends too much in one area of their life then all the other areas will suffer as well. Decide now how you want to impact those that you love and the influence you want to have on people. Don’t be reactive. Put together a plan today how you can better love your family. Put together a plan about how you want to make a difference in the lives of others. Remember, a goal/plan not written down and put into action is only a wish. A real man is one how takes control of his life and does not let life control him.
